A Friend Indeed A friend is a friend indeed. He shows it by act and deed. As sure as one and one make two, he'll be right behind you. Of it you may not be aware, but deeply he does care. He'll smile and go the extra mile. You won't ask him to, but this is nothing new. As a friend, he may not give you a ten, but need help, and he'll be there again. He'll give you a hand and you'll realize (of you) he's a fan. If you trip or miss a step, he'll be there and tell you, "Don't fear." His arm around your shoulders, he'll give trouble no quarter. He'll calm your fears and dry your tears. You may not always be able to see him, but you'll feel his presence again and again. Reach out your hand he'll take it in his, he'll never miss. Cry help, and his presence will be felt. With him you can share, your troubles and your cares. You live in his heart. Of him you're a part. You can see it in his eyes, no matter how hard he tries. If you're feeling lonely or a bit of a phony, know that from above comes his love. He'll be there, have no fear. No matter how weary, you he'll carry. You may not know it, but he's by your shoulder. If he can't be there, he'll send others. Give him an embrace, see the joy on his face. He's there for you, true blue. A friend indeed. By Morris Cox March 18, 1998
