Hacker: Basically, one who is an expert at something. In this case, computers and/or Internet. Note that saying that a cracker is a hacker is like saying that a dog is a mammal. Only some are. See hacker.txt for a further explanation.
Cracker: A category of hacker. There are basically two kinds of crackers...

Software Cracker: One who makes software think it's registered.
System Cracker: One who breaks into computers or networks.

Phreaker: Telephone hacker.
What is commonly thought of as a hacker is actually a system cracker. Crackers and phreakers are hackers, but hackers are not necessarily crackers and/or phreakers.
